Gund is chairman and a co founder of the nonprofit.Gund lost his sight to a degenerative retinal disease when he was 30. For many years, he has championed research to reverse the effects of the disease. In 2009, he gave the Cleveland Clinic $2 burberry million to expand its research.Foundation Fighting Blindness is hoping to raise $100 million through 2020 to expand research, with Gund and his family pledging to match what is netted in the campaign. Gund said he is prepared to donate $50 million or more, said Bob Szafranski, of the foundation.Gund, 74, inherited part of a fortune built by his Cleveland family.
